Math Class

So, today in math class, we were studying the compactness of sets (don't worry--you don't have to know compact sets to understand this post). We were taking about some function called Fu(xi), pronounced F-sub-U of X-sub-I. Or, for brevity's sake, you could just say F-U of X-I. So, this kid raised his hand and asked, "Are we talking about the function F-U?" Even though he meant the question honestly, I burst out laughing. The professor, for whom English is a second language, didn't understand what was funny about Fu, so he simply replied, "Yes, F-U."

Later in that same class, we talked about a sequence bj. I guess math has a lot to do with §ex.
