I'm reading The Prince for my Soc. class. It's quite a nice respite from Plato, Aristotle, and St. Augustine in that it is not concerned with the highest good, that which truly is and similar philosophical abstractions. That's not to say that I don't like philosophical abstractions, but Machiavelli is a welcome change. He really does not seem as evil as his reputation makes him out to be. He is certainly an astute observer of human behavior and history.

I think I like realpolitik.
