I have a crush on Abby Ryan, the woman who does the Shadow traffic report on WBEZ.
I’ve never seen her, but I hear her voice about 5 times every morning.
Update: Thanks to an anonymous poster, I have seen her…and I know a suprising number of details about her family and life history.

she rules! for a week she was on vacation and some guy was doing the traffic report for her. he sucked. i have no idea why i like that woman. i don’t care about the traffic situtation and half the time i don’t even know what she’s talking about. she never says anything but the traffic report. that’s a monkey’s job. why on earth do we like her so much? weirdest thing ever.
sadly, though, she’s probably not cute. people who work in radio generally are not cute. especially if they’re stuck doing the traffic report.

I love her too. And was very disappointed when she was gone for awhile. It’s always a big comfort for me to hear Lisa Laves tell me the temperature and hear Abby Ryan describe the traffic nightmare that I don’t have to face.

I don’t think that the Abby Ryan from 106.7 and the traffic Abbey Ryan from WBEZ are the same person, Suggs.

Although hers may seem a “monkey job”, Abby’s workday is exceedingly long. Her long work hours must be taxing. When does she do her grocery shopping or pick up her dry cleaning? I am concerned for her physcial and mental well-being and can only hope that she is fairly compensated for her efforts. By the way, who cares what Abby looks like? She is the truth.

She’s very informative but has no sense of humor. Whenever one of the WBEZ hosts tries to crack a joke with her, she sits there in silence–not even a chuckle.
