Network theory weblog

Saturday, April 26th, 2003

Many-to-many is a weblog about network theory. I like network theory.
Now, to eat a gigantic breakfast at the pancake house.

Bloggin’ like a mofo 2day

I just ate two pitas, some cucumber salad, and some falafel balls for lunch. I’m feeling quite healthy and crunchy granola, since falafel balls are from the Mediterranean, and Mediterranean civilization made these vegetarian dishes before modern Western civilization greedily raped the land with mechanized agriculture so we could chow down on Easy Mac and […]

More nerdy statistics

Here’s this week’s take-home lesson from Statistics 251, Introduction to Mathmatical Probability:
We’re all familiar with the gameshow The Price Is Right. In part of the show, three contests spin a wheel numbered from 5-100. The goal is to get as close to 100 as possible within 2 spins without going over. Obviously, if your first […]

Goings On

Last weekend my friends from League crashed at my apartment and played a show out in Wheaton. It was hella sweet. They met some pretty cool people at the show, and made some connections so that when they return to Chicago this summer, they’ll play a better venue, like the Vic, Metro, Empty Bottle or […]

I heard about a new method of finding out about ancient ecosystems: by looking for DNA fragments in the soil (scroll down the linked page for audio).
Scientists working with soil from Siberia’s permafrost are surprised to find DNA that appears to come from ancient vertebrates—including wooly mammoths—and plants.
Also, Kevin Guilfoile makes a great Non-Expert.
Quarlo […]

Oh, check out Margaret’s drinking game for grading math homework. It’s pretty sweet. The permalink is being stupid right now. Just read the whole weblog and find the entry I’m talking about.
Guess who noticed the misspelled word (“there for” instead of “therefore”)? Oh, was that me? Yes it was. Because I rule. Note: correcting my […]

Gettin’ jiggy wit’ the stat homework

Who would have guessed that between the MacOS 10.2 calculator, my TI-83, some Web-based Java calculators, and Windows XP calculator, the WinXP would be best at handling large numbers? Not me. I thought the Web-based Java apps would win (since I imagine they’re created on the whim of some computer prodigy).
I know a bit about […]

Fantastic

E-Po showed me this great desktop background. Whenever people see it, they chuckle and say, “that’s great.”
Right now, I’m listening to the Get Up Kids, Badly Drawn Boy, and The Postal Service. You should be too.
I just took off my shoes and put on flip-flops. Now I’m more comfortable.

Oh look, I’ve come back from the dead

Tuesday, April 15th, 2003

Hola amigos. So, I’ve been sucking lately. It’s because I’ve been crazy busy. Like, working 20 hours/week at the computer lab, spending 25+ hours a week rowing crew, and taking a full class load. And being cool with the ladies, going to Jimmy’s, and watching West Wing and American Idol.
But, today I ordered a new […]

The Non-Expert: Threesomes
The Mother of All War Web Sites
True Porn Clerk Stories
I don’t think I can beat that, so I’ll stop there.

No use for a title

Ruthie asks, “Is ktheory dead?”
I respond, “Nay, it is just sucking.”
Check out The dullest blog in the world (That link doesn’t go to this site, FYI).
