Chi-town representin’

IÕm back in Chicago. For the next week, IÕll be cleaning up and settling in to the apartment, hanging out with friends and otherwise lying around.

There was a bit of a fiasco with shipping stuff out to the apartment. Since my name wasnÕt on the building directory, all the packages sent to me werenÕt delivered. This includes my bed sheets and our wireless router. So, I have to sleep in my sleeping bag for the next few days, and whatÕs worse, we donÕt have internet access in the apartment. (IÕm at the computer lab.)

Saturday, I worked at the NSIT O-Fest. It was a carnival for new students and their families to get acquainted with the technology services on campus. There was a lot of free food and free NSIT-branded items, such as a messenger bag and a towel. Yes, I too was surprised to receive a NSIT towel. For those who may be thinking, ÒthereÕs no such thing as a free towelÓ, I think funding for the O-Fest comes from the $250 orientation fee charged to first-year students. Or maybe it comes from the huge NSIT budget. I donÕt know, but I think first-years are paying for my towel and messenger bag.

Thank you first-years.
