Calmness
The New Yorker magazine always has great cover art, but this week’s cover is extraordinary. The current issue has been lying around the house for a few days, and each time I walk past it on the coffee table it instills in me a feeling of peace and calm. It’s rare that I find paintings so moving.
On The New Yorker web site, I happened to find a portfolio of photographs of “Ground Zero” by Joel Meyerowitz. I’m a big fan of his photography. Lest you think I’m a competent photography critic, “big fan” means that one time at Barnes & Noble I picked up a book of his. It was a very good photography book, in my opinion. Besides Ansel Adams, he’s the only professional photographer I could name.

Actually, it was a Barbara’s Bookstore near Second City. I know this because I bought the book after Aaron picked it up, along with another few.

You’re right, it wasn’t B&N. I couldn’t remember the name Barbara’s Bookstore.
Ari, you should definitely come visit me in Chicago again.
